Our history

We were established in 2001 by Ben Kent whose vision was to create a company that could offer a combination of market research and management consultancy. The first office was in Southwark near Borough Market at a time when the area was taking off as a go-to destination.

Ben’s background as a former City lawyer quickly helped the company established an enviable client base amongst the leading accountancy and law firms working on forward-thinking market strategy, client loyalty and thought leadership projects. The early 2000s was an exciting time to working in the professions. The sector was growing strongly and was beginning to take a more disciplined approach to marketing and business development.

Over that time the firm grew year on year. As the firm grew we hired people with intellectual curiosity and strong analytical skills, often with a background in professional and financial services. We strove to create an unstuffy, creative culture that remains today. In 2007 the firm moved offices to Carnaby Street to accommodate a larger team.

Meridian West started to publish its own thought leadership research investigating the changing dynamics of the client-adviser relationship. On the back of extensive research – interviewing more than 10,000 buyers of professional services over the last decade – we identified commerciality as one of the greatest frustrations cited by clients about their advisers, and developed the unique 7 habits of commerciality framework. This proprietary approach is practical and powerful and forms the basis of Meridian West’s training curriculum and resource hub (www.commerciality-hub.com), which enables advisers to give better, more useful advice to their clients and attain trusted adviser status.

In 2013 the Meridian West team moved offices to Southbank near the London Eye. As of September 2016 Meridian West is homed in The Leathermarket, Bermondsey, allowing us to be in close proximity to a number of our clients.

Today Meridian West focuses on helping firms to implement client-centric strategies and to develop technology platforms to deliver client insight.

Meridian West enables advisers to give better, more useful advice to their clients and attain trusted adviser status.

“It was an excellent project. I personally had a lot riding on it, having spearheaded the programme and got partner buy-in. It couldn’t have gone more smoothly and, I believe, delivered real results that will impact on the way that firm operates and manages its client relationships.”
